Etsy Treasury: Red, black, and white

I love, love creating treasuries. I especially love this color combination. Red, black, and white will always be classic. Plus, it reminds me of Minnie Mouse...what could be bad about that :).

Scrapbooking Layout Ideas: Halloween

Halloween is almost here! Break out the costumes and candy. One thing I hate about living in an apartment is that the kids don't Trick-or-Treat (not that I blame parents, I don't think I'd take my kids around in a complex where I barely knew anyone either).

Anyhoo! I went over to scrapbook.com and picked some great layouts.

I don't know what is going on with blogger but I can't upload any more preview pictures. Here are some more direct links though.

Craft Room: Organization and Storage Ideas

I was on Scrapbook.com to look for inspirational Halloween layouts (will post tomorrow) and was stopped in my tracks by this absolutely lovely and well organized craft room.

I don't know about you but I sooo wish that I had a craft room like this. You can get to the link here. The crafter says that the storage cubes were Jet Max. I am pretty sure I saw the same type of organizational cubes in Target in the craft section.

Magnetic spice jars were used to hold some of the smaller items. I have seen this at the container store but I'm sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere.

Make sure to click on the pictures above the article on the page so that you can see close-ups of the room and get descriptions on what was used to organize the space.

Halloween Craft: Ghost pail for candy

Halloween is almost here. Make these too cute candy holders. Made from inexpensive chinese food containers, these can be whipped up in no time. Would be perfect for those class parties or for the fun Halloween party thrown for the kids.

Creating a No-Sew Tutu for Scrapbooking Album

I got this idea the moment that saw the stickers for this album. I am at the moment obsessed with tutus and knew that I wanted to create a tutu but that I definitely did not want to sew it. So it was off to Google I went. I found a great, and entertaining set of instructions here on Plumtickled blog site.

I have adapted the instructions for my project below.

First I cut a piece of elastic about 3 inches smaller that the width around the album and secured it with some zig zag stitches on my sewing machine. This can of course be done by hand.

I then cut some tulle double the length that I wanted and added a couple of inches to adjust for the double knots. TIP: I would definitely in the future get the tulle that is already in 6 inch widths, cutting it on the floor was a complete pain.

Take the tulle and slide one side behind the elastic and make sure that both sides are even and tie a double knot.

I put the elastic around the paint can to keep it steady else it will be hard to manage.

I continued around until I had filled in enough to cover the front of the album and like that I was done!

The cutes Krylon paint can ever!

I added ribbon along the back since it will be visible on the other side of the album. I only added it to both ends of the elastic so that the elastic would still be able to stretch.

Scrapbooking Page Sketches

If you are absolutely stumped for ideas one of the best things to do is look at page sketches. You can browse through scrapbooking magazines, google page sketches, or purchase some books.

One of the best books, in my opinion, is Scrapbook Page Maps: Sketches For Creative Layouts by Becky Higgins (books shown below). The ideas above are from her website where you can download a lot of sketches for free.

Etsy Finds: Great Fall Colors

We are finally having some beautiful weather here in Georgia. A far cry from the sweltering hot heat that we have been having. (Hopefully I haven't spoken too soon as I haven't been out yet). It inspired me to create this etsy list full of wonderful browns and oranges....Just makes me want a piece of pumpkin pie. See the completed list here.
