25 Inexpensive Ideas to Store Your Craft Ribbon

 1) What girl doesn't have a more than a few pairs of shoes? Now you can turn those into great ribbon organizers. You can visit moi-kapelka's website for step by step instructions.
 2) This is by far one of my favorite ideas for storing scrap bits of ribbon because if you don't have them in your eye site are you really going to remember to use them? This is inexpensive and as easy as putting into cute little jar containers. You can find them inexpensively in dollar stores, garage sales or thrift stores.            3) This is another idea from the
creatinkeepsakes website. Although I admit, I
don't really know how practical this whole project
would be but it sure is pretty. You can hang the
spools of ribbon from a pretty piece of wide
ribbon and then hang on a Decorative Wall Hook.
Their website also has 3 other great ideas on how
               to store your ribbon.

4) Super simple idea. Take some toilet paper rolls and put them on a Multi-Tier Pants Hanger. This would work great for ribbon scraps. You could also take the time to paint the toilet paper rolls or cover them with decorative paper first if you wanted them to look a little more stylish. Get the instructions on scrapbooksetc website.

5) Here is another idea using a Hanger 5 Tier. This is a nice and neat way to hang up your ribbon storage especially if you have a closet that you can dedicate to your craft storage. The other idea shown is a Hanging Jewelry Organizer. This is a great way to store your embellishments. I use a clear shoe organizer that I hang on the back of my door to store everything from paint brushes to embellishments. I like being able to see everything at a glance. Source: SimpleEffects

6) This idea looks as pretty as a store display. It uses a Wood Thread Rack. You can get a lot of ribbon on this thread rack and they are fairly inexpensive. You can also stick in the corner of the room and it would take up very little space. This is on Sunday Memories website.

7) This has got to be one of the most unique ideas I have seen yet! She uses a rain gutter. Yes a rain gutter to store her ribbon. I have seen some ribbon displays that basically look like this for waaay more than you would pay to make this yourself. Can you say genius! Hop on over to Loristamps to get instructions on this project.

8) How pretty is this idea! The ribbon has been wrapped around Foam Core Boards.  I have done something like this before for scrap pieces of ribbon but I used small pieces of cardboard that would easily fit in to a clear plastic storage bin with sections.

The one caution about this is that wrapping around the ribbon like will lead to you having creases in the ribbon. The original idea for this was on stamps-and-stitches

9) Neat space to hold your ribbon. I like the fact that the ribbon sits on top of the dowels so you don't have to worry about taking them off of the dowels when you run out of ribbon.

Would sit perfectly on top of your desk or storage area without taking up too much space. this is also stackable so you could put a few on the floor if you have the space. Get step-by-step instructions on Nap Time Journal's website.

10) This is a great variation of the ribbon holder made from a Photo Box as it looks to be a bit easier. There isn't a lot of drilling for the ribbon to come out of the sides and it looks as though you could better accommodate all sizes of ribbon this way. The instructions can be found on creamcityribbonblog

11) A found item at a Goodwill was turned into the very pretty ribbon holder. This would be great for those craft spaces that are in very visible places in the house. Not only does it look great but it saves space by being able to be hung on the wall. You can find the instructions for this project on Scissors & Spatulas. You could also use a Wall-Mountable Spice Rack.

12) Here is another take on wrapping your ribbon around cardboard. This idea is a little more decorative so you can have it visible and not tucked away. I like the fact that you can just grab what you need and take it to your project space and the ribbon hangs back up neatly later. Instructions are on Sew Homegrown

13) This is an idea that I have done myself. The instructions  here are a little bit different from what I did. The site also has  neat way to use paint brushes and markers for the dowels.

My way was to get dowels and some wheel bases that the dowels fit into (you can get them in the unfinished wood department at any craft store) and place them together and viola! I painted mine white to make it a little more decorative. See my instructions here.

14) We've all seen the ribbon bag in craft stores and catalogs. They can be pretty prices. Love My Scrapbooking Ideas shows how to make the holder very inexpensively. If you have a Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch, this will be a cinch to do. That punch can go through just about anything!

15) Here is another variation of storing ribbons by wrapping them this time it is around chipboard. Isn't it pretty? The source is CeeCee's Creations

16) So so pretty. If you have the space this is a great way to organize your ribbon. It reminds me of a display that you would see in a craft store. Just makes you want to get crafting! Source: sheskindacrafty.com

17) Simple yet very decorative. This method use 2 in Metal Book Rings. See the complete instructions here.

18) This is a method that I use except that I use a larger one that stores more ribbon. The good thing about this is that some of these types of containers can be stackable and because they are small, you can coordinate the whole bin by color and just take the bin with you to your craft space. See instructions on Spunky Junky's blog site. Find a similar bin here.

19) And yet another way to store your ribbon by wrapping. As you can see you can get lots and lots of ribbon in one spot. So if you have the patience, it is definitely a good way to go. Site: AmazingPaperGrace.com.

 20) And last of the visual pictures is a variation of the rain gutters that was pictured earlier. Of course because this idea was on marthastewart.com you can't use an ordinary white rain gutter. No, no, no. Only copper will do :). Definitely a good thing.

I also wanted to share a few videos because I am an instructional person so I like to see projects acted out a lot of times so I can understand precisely what they are doing. This first video is super easy and it's one that I think I am going to try once I get enough space to display it. I think it will be really pretty and it would be easy for me to just grab the ribbon that I want and take to my workspace. Plus, because of the shape of the pegs, no creases. Yea!

This video shows how to clip up your ribbon. Looks great displayed out in the open and you can see at a glance how much ribbon that you have available.

This video has several different ideas on how to store your ribbon.

How neat! This video shows how to organize your ribbon in a handmade book. Great when you need to take your projects on the go.
